Procavi’s commitment to the environment is firm. Our own environmental policy is applied to different areas of the production process. A good example of this is our Meal and Fat Processing Plant, which is one of the basic pillars of this policy, where the leftover elements that come out of the production processes of its Meat Processing Centre are transformed into innocuous products that can be used for different purposes.
Water is a scarce resource and its responsible use implies a better use thereof. Procavi’s wastewater treatment plant is equipped with advanced, high-performance technology that recycles over 1,200 m3 per day, a volume equivalent to the daily water consumption of some 6,000 people. The processed water is reused for washing and irrigation.
The power co-generation plant, with an investment of close to two million euros and running on natural gas, has a capacity to generate one megawatt of electricity by harnessing engine heat to produce steam, electricity and hot water from this engine cooling.
The future of humanity and the planet depend on the way we produce energy. That is why we have installed photovoltaic panels at our feed factories, converting the sun’s energy into electricity.
This way of working has led the Andalusian Regional Government’s Environmental Department to consider us an example of how to work and what policies to develop in order to combine its performance with the creation of wealth, jobs and sustainable development. For this reason, Procavi has been awarded in the environmental management category for its innovation in implementing responsible and sustainable practices.
